Lunette is a US-based film distribution agency for filmmakers seeking a bespoke approach to the release of their films. Rejecting a “one size fits all” method, our distribution strategies are formed in close collaboration and tailored to each project’s unique strengths, vision, and target audiences.

Lunette provides services and support for filmmakers at every step, including marketing materials, release strategy, festival distribution, theatrical bookings, educational screenings, key partnerships, streaming deals, and consultations. For each release, we assemble a unique team of hand-picked industry professionals who can best serve and advocate for your film's needs. We are here to help you find audiences who would meaningfully engage with your project, provide audiences with more access to revelatory stories and experiences, and foster communities that can support your future endeavors.

We also provide booking and consultation services to distributors, producers, and sales agents who are interested in outsourcing their bookings or exploring alternative avenues for projects they believe would benefit from a tailored approach.

Our first year slate includes both features and shorts, embracing a diversity of forms and visions, to uplift filmmakers and reach audiences underserved by existing infrastructure.

Lunette was founded by Malkah Manouel, a film distributor prioritizing sustainable release strategies for independent films by people of color. Malkah previously managed theatrical distribution at MUBI, where they worked on the releases for films by Coralie Fargeat, Aki Kaurismäki, Andrea Arnold, Mati Diop, Ira Sachs, Levan Akin, and more. Malkah has established theatrical departments for distributors like Kani Releasing and Third World Newsreel, and has worked with other companies including Kino Lorber and Dedza Films. Malkah also co-runs the film website Ultra Dogme and co-programs their Movie Club, a monthly streaming series of avant-garde films, in addition to their in-person events around the world.
